Homecoming Gospel Choir of Southern Illinois

Homecoming Gospel Choir
Homecoming Gospel Choir

Organized in 1999, the Homecoming Gospel Choir presented their initial concert on Sunday, November 21, 1999, at the Boyd Christian Church, near Dix ,IL. That initial concert experience drew an audience of about 300 folks. The choir that evening was made up of about 45 singers and 2 musicians (Sandy Loyd, keyboards, and Tom Baker, guitar and trumpet). Thirteen members of that original group are still singing with the choir today.

While that initial concert experience was perceived as a one time only event, God obviously had other plans. By His grace and provision, in 2009, the Homecoming Gospel Choir, under the direction of John and Judy Roberts, completed a decade of ministry. As they embark upon their 11th season, the choir, now features over 100 singers and instrumentalists from all across southern Illinois. The choir annually presents 12-14 concerts throughout southern and central Illinois. The upbeat, fast paced, 3-hour presentation features the choir, along with many soloists, duets, trios, and quartets, presenting the traditional hymns and southern gospel songs in the Gaither style. The presentation features both tracked accompaniment, as well as, a 9-member stage band. For an unforgettable evening of musical worship and praise designed to minister to folks of all ages, don’t miss the Homecoming Gospel Choir when they are scheduled in your area.
