Jerry Malone is no new-comer to the world of gospel music, only that he began his career in it playing for quartets back in the mid 60`s in the St. Louis area. Then, living in Memphis in the 70`s, he traveled as pianist for the Coachmen whose ministry spanned some 20 states. Jerry mangled and broke his finger during intermission while in concert with the LeFevres and the Prophets Quartet in Dyersburg, TN at the Community College by forgetting to remove his finger before slamming their quartet bus door shut. Unable to finish the concert after being rushed to ER and having his finger put back together again, this knocked him out of playing piano for about a year.
Jerry continued his career in other musical interests, teaching private piano lessons full time and tuning pianos and finally worked into a full time thriving piano service business in SW Michigan from 1983 to 2005 when at that time he sold the business and retired from piano tuning. At this time Jerry was able to follow his heart and return to playing piano full time. Jerry served as pianist for the Helmsmen Quartet based in SW Michigan through 2010. Jerry is now involved in writing music and arranging his own original music for his upcoming next CD project, an easy-listening piano project.
Due to a chronic pain condition, Jerry is limited in his playing somewhat, but will pursue doing solo concerts in the near future.
Jerry and his wife, Jerri have two married daughters and four grandchildren. Jerry and Jerri make their home in Grand Haven, Michigan.
